This little restaurant was truly found by “Getting Lost.” I was with a couple of friends trying to find another restaurant and we got lost! I checked if there was anything nearby that was open. It was Sunday and we were up in the hills near the tiny town of Fragneto Monforte. Well…. we found this little treasure!
Mentelocale Osteria is located near the town square and the Palazzo Ducale in this pretty little town.

There is no menu - it’s all seasonal and prepared fresh

Located only about 35 minutes from Guardia Sanframondi and only 25 minutes up the hill from Benevento
The food is really good, with locally produced wine as well
Cute, cute, cute setting in stone rooms with interesting and thoughtful art
There is a great bar around the corner for drinks after - Gran Caffè Farnetum
The town is small and easy to walk. There is a Palazzo around the corner, a nice little piazza and a beautiful church all near Mentelocale.

I found out from the locals that Fragneto is known for the annual Hot Air Balloon Festival which happens in the first week of October. How cool is that? Check out some info here.
